As we kick off 2023, we wanted to share all the exciting updates and developments we have in store for the new year. First and foremost, a big thank you to the $ALGO FAM for your unwavering support and belief in the FAME project. Even though we haven't shared many updates in 2022, you've stuck by us like a true brotherhood, and that means the world to us. Your encouragements has given us the strength to keep pushing forward in this gruesome bear market, and to work hard in the background.
So what's in store for 2023?
We’re excited to be more vocal about our work and to involve the $ALGO FAM and our farmers in the building process. Your valuable feedback is critical to the success of our mission, so we’ll be all ears when it comes to offering the best user experience possible.
FAME is a REFI project
For those unfamiliar with FAME, we started out as a reward token for the Algorand community, but have since transitioned to a Regenerative Finance (ReFi) initiative. Our focus is on social impact in Africa and South America, and we're using the Algorand blockchain to empower individuals and communities through our Food Autonomy and Mutual Empowerment (FAME) platform.
Our goal is to give smallholder farmers access to advanced financial services and to remove the friction they often face in their daily lives. We believe smallholder farmers are essential to the sustainable development of the global food economy, and deserve the best tools and resources to empower their communities and drive economic growth.
So what makes the $FAME token so special?
For one, it’s the most decentralized community token in the Algorand ecosystem, thanks to our unique distribution model: no presales, no investors, a fixed supply of 10,000 $FAME tokens, 750 bags of 10 $FAME airdroped in March 2021 to the $ALGO OGs, no inflation since then and the distribution fully complete now. Today more than 85% of the tokens are owned by the $ALGO FAM, while the remaining 15% were added to the Tinyman liquidity pools on Christmas Eve to make them available for you to stake your $FAME and $ALGO to earn your Algorand Foundation governance reward.
$FAME has already taken on a life of its own; freely traded by the $ALGO FAM, $FAME will also be used to make direct donations to our verified farmers so you can bank the unbanked yourself, you will also be able to participate in our FAME DAO and eventually start to pay for your local food and services directly from the FAME app in the future. Please keep in mind that FAME is still a small market cap token, so it can be volatile.
Our new website
On Christmas 2022, we also launched our new website at: https://algofame.org
where you can find out more about our mission and vision. We’ll be updating the site with news, events, interviews with farmers and partnerships on a regular basis.
FAME DAO
Our FAME DAO voting and fund management system will be available soon for the community to take control of our common treasury.
Our goal is to run the FAME project with the help of our global community of like-minded individuals who care about equal opportunities, social impact, and sustainability and to empower our community with a common fund to managed in a democratic way (now on tesnet).
Our FAME APP
One of the major milestones for 2023 is the launch of the FAME app and our grassroots strategy for deployment in Nigeria, Kenya, Morocco, and Brazil. The FAME token will be used as a voting token, a reward for users, a means of payment, a cross-border currency, a direct donation channel and an easy on ramp into WEB3 for unbanked farmers and workers in these developing countries.

We are still working on our financial services to make sure to offer the safest DEFI services our Algorand ecosystem can offer. Our Audit will take place in Q1 2023 but here is a list of what we have in store:

Twitter space for financial inclusion
We are excited to embark on an impactful 2023 with the $ALGO FAM, working towards the vision of a borderless economy that is accessible to all. To further this goal, we will be launching a new twitter space dedicated to financial inclusion, with the first edition taking place on January 11th and subsequent sessions held every Wednesday at 1pm NY/7pm Paris.
